Photojournalism Assignment – The Shepparton Show

Jerry had wanted us to do a story where is was a one day event and that we couldn’t go back to, just for fun (and educational purposes as he stressed over and over).

We packed our bags and stayed over at Hannah’s place over at Shepparton which was a good 2 hour drive from the city of Melbourne. The suburbs that far out feel completely different from the city.

First off, I didn’t see enough Asians to number off in one hand and less than 10 people actually wore glasses. Maybe its true, too much TV and video games does a number on your eyes.

Secondly the place felt like modernised, yet had a small town and homely feel. It was closer to the idealised version of Australia I had in mind, which was great, till then Australia had felt like an expanded Orchard Road with more Caucasians.

All of a sudden I was exotic like an Asian tourist in a land where not Asian tourists would be with their camera. This was an account of the two days.
